1. Water:
Main water connector is outside the house, on the right side of the main door - behind a grey steel door.
A wrench 🔧 is needed from the technical room.
Connect the water by turning the square nut on the left.
...then, inside the technical room, turn down the black handle in the far right corner of the room.
Now the water is connected in the house, including washmashine and dishwasher.

2. Turn on the INTERNET router...
...which is in the bedroom in the 3rd floor. Just plug it in.

3. GAS:
Gas switch to the stove is in the kitchen. Turn the knob and the gas is on, close the hatch.
4. Heating during off season:
The thermostate is in the small box. Turn the termostat up to 15°,
leave the door partly open so that the thermostate can read the
heat in the room. The thermostate takes care of the two upper floors.
A similar thermostate is in the "kitchen" of the second floor for that floor.
ATTENZIONE! Keep the doors closed to the stairway to avoid loss
of heat since the stairway does not have heating
Stove! Remember to open the glass top before turning on the stove!
Turning on the stove, make sure the ignition stops even if the stove is ignited. Sometimes it just keeps on firing. Turn the jobs gently back and force. A minor adjustment defect with the stove.
5. FIRE PLACE
Open the damper inside the fire place..
Italian wood is very hard and it is recomended to start the fire with briquettes. Put a fire starter under a small pile of briquettes and lit. When the fire is good you can continue with wood.
The fire place downstairs does not have a damper, it is always open.
OTHER TASKS:
The fridge and wine cabinet must always stay connected.
The radio in the kitchen is maybe unplugged.
Only use bottle water in the koffee machines.
DEPARTURE CHECK LIST!
From top till bottom!
KITCHEN.
Check that the coffee machines are clean from filter paper or polettes (Nespresso)
Close the gas in the kitchen, leave hatch open.
Turn down the thermostate to 7°, leave the hatch open.
Important!! Ensure that all windows are properly closed (check the arrows in the picture).
Close all inner window shutters, don't forget the terrace window towards the stairs!
The darkness keeps the bugs away.
See that everything is clean and organised.
See that the terrace is organised, take the chairs and the plastic plants inside.
The fridge and wine cabinets are left on, but make sure there is nothing left in the fridge which could become mouldy.
Close the damper in the fire place!
Clean the fire place with the red shovel in the basket.
Take the garbage.
Close both terrace doors.
Shut the lights.
Floor 3.
Clean the Bathroom sink with Bagno spray.
Clean The shower cabinet with quasar...
Important to clean the glass regularly due to aggressive chalk stains!
Spray Quasar, and wipe it with a glass cloth, no need to rinse.
Unplugg the internet router.
Check the windows.
Close the lights.
Close the door to the staircase!
Floor 2.
Clean the bathroom!
Clean the fire place if in use.
Check the windows.
Turn down the thermostate in the kitchen to 7°.
Close the lights.
Close the door to the staircase!
Hall!
Leave the door partly open for an airflow to the both rooms in the hall.
Close the water in the house...
- first in the technical room, lift up the black handle.
- then outside the house, turn the nut with a wrench.
Close the lights in the technical room. The staircase lights is on a timer.
Lock the door... say Grazie, Arrivederci, and a presto!
TIPS:
Make sure you have the house key!
Take with you.
- an extra iPhone cable with old USB plug for the rent cars.
Always connect the lights right away in the rental vehicle. Not automatic as in nordic countries. Easy to forget and you'll wonder why everyone is blinking at you when it gets darker.
Always stay on your own lane on the narrow roads, especially on outer curves!
The locals are the worst drivers, always in a hurry.
No official lanes in the cities, be aware especially of the motos.
Don't fell pressure to drive the same tempo as the locals, the Italians do accept also slower drivers.
Be cautious when entering a bigger road, the acceleration lane is short and avoid stopping if you have cars behind you! Also use the mirrors frequently!
Be cautious also in the crossings since cars can appear from nowhere. During weekends there can be a lot of motorbikers trying their limits.
Tips in Lajatico:
Piazza: Coop has a nice little grocer for small needs. Da Nello has also a grocer.
Lunch: Da Nello on the Piazza. Check the lunch times! NB! Da Nello in Lajatico, Da Nella in La Sterza!

Buy drinking water from Rosanna to avoid carrying heavy stuff from further. She also has a lot of other necessities.
The Circolo bar also has, ice cream and frozen Pizza, but only cash is accepted.
A nice walk in Orciatico is around the castle but also down around and between the wine fields.
Bocellis house and restaurants, and shops is situated in La Sterza (1.) One of our favorite lunch restaurants is Da Nella, in the crossing opposite of Bocellise restaurant. The Tagliata with a half a liter of red wine makes your day. No views but a perfect Italian atmosphere.
2. Shopping in La Rosa... a bigger outlet store Magazzini Mangini has often good bargains.
3. Food: We often start filling the fridge by going to the bigger markets in Capannoli (Conad) or Peccioli (Coop)
